Toshiba Super Charge Ion Battery Notebook
Toshiba unveiled its prototype of the battery notebook SCIB (Super Charge ion Battery) which can charge a laptop up to 90 percent within 10 minutes.

Toshiba said SCIB technology is safe, with a low possibility of rupture or catching fire, problems that certainly suffering from certain lithium-ion batteries used in laptops. Interestingly, the new Toshiba battery can also work in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit). Anyone who has a car battery go in the middle of winter knows that cold weather tends to hamper battery performance.
The main feature of the Li-ion secondary battery is that lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12) is used as negative electrode material with electrolyte with a high flash point and separator with high heat resistance. Because of this feature, a thermal runaway is less likely to occur in the case of an internal short circuit, so the risk of bursting and combustion are reduced.
