I bought a Sony A200 in July, after researching all the other comparable dslrs out there. I had it for 4 weeks and I bought a new card for it, after inserting the card, I got a camera error message. I took it to blacks where they sent it away to sony for 8 weeks. I got a call last night telling me that there is extensive damage from sand in the camera and it is not economical to repair, and it’s not covered under warranty. Estimate: $849.
I did have the camera at the beach, and of course, being a single mother, with a brand new $600 camera that it took me a year to save up for, I was very careful not to get sand on the camera, I put it in the special Lowepro case I purchased for it when it was not in use. I used the camera after we were at the beach for 2 weeks. I bought a new card for it, and that’s when it stopped working. How does sand get inside a camera? Especially when i was SO careful to avoid sand getting into it.
