Samsung Electronics has announced SpinPoint F3, its new line-up of high-density hard drives for high-end computing environments.

The SpinPoint HDD F3 utilizes advanced 500 GB per platter technology, so that the plateau of 1TB capacity is reached. Increased areal density per tray provides up to 30 percent more than a performance of three 1TB plateau in the same 3.5-inch form factor. A reduction of mechanical parts also contributes to improving the reliability in terms of shock and failure data.

Samsung release a new hard disk drive which called Spinpoint N3U with size 1.8-inch. It has 250Gb of capacity with USB controller and each platter can store 125GB.

The native interface of the USB hard drive virtually eliminates the cause of loss due to cable. The player claims to consume about 40 percent less energy than standard 2.5-inch hard drives. It also improves performance by eliminating the time required to convert the USB signals PATA signals.
