RIM BlackBerry Apps Storefront and Apps Center
Research In Motion (RIM) announced two major initiatives distribution BlackBerry smartphone applications for the BlackBerry Developer Conference.

RIM plans to launch the application window in March 2009 and the BlackBerry application developers can start submitting their applications and content for inclusion in the showcase in December 2008. The showcase allows developers to set their own prices for applications and developers to retain 80 per cent of revenue generated by their applications.

A new application online store and a new on-Application Center will help application developers and carriers reach millions of BlackBerry smartphone users worldwide and provide consumers with more choice, strengthening the implementation Discovery and a method for easy management of the facility, updates, and shopping.
RIM is also working with its partners in the carrier to provide customized carrier, on-demand centers device to promote the market after downloading applications. The BlackBerry Application Center will allow each carrier to offer a catalog right on the device on which a customer can discover and download applications. RIM has already worked successfully with carriers to provide this type of device-distribution system for software applications, such as the popular Facebook application for BlackBerry smartphones.
The new BlackBerry Application Center enables a carrier to build on this success with a broader catalog and provide customers with an easy way and buy and download applications.
