Truphone User Guide for iPhone 3.0
Truphone provides telephone services using its internet-based telephone network. Truphone allows you to make iPhone calls via the internet which means that you can make INTERNATIONAL calls at LOCAL rates because most of the routing is done on Truphone’s internet-based network.
Connecting to the Truphone network is seamless….via a Wi-Fi connection or, if you are not in a Wi-Fi area, via a normal iPhone call (via your service provider) using the new Truphone Anywhere feature (Please Note: Calls are not possible via your 3G connection). Truphone always tries Wi-Fi first. Once you install the Truphone application on your iPhone, and complete the quick account set up stage, you are ready to make calls.
Your Truphone Tru Friends works in a similar way to your ordinary iPhone Favourites. Here you can save numbers that you use on a regular basis. The Tru Friends list saves you the time and inconvenience of searching through your contacts list, opening a contact, and then selecting the desired number.
Truphone now supports inbound Truphone calling on the iPhone! Other Truphone users can now check when you are online by adding you to their Tru Friend list and using the presence display to see when you are online. When they see the green online symbol they can call you via your normal iPhone number for free.
Simply ensure that you are connected to Truphone and that you keep the Truphone application open to receive free calls. (Note: To prevent your iPhone from going into sleep mode and thus shutting down Truphone, turn the ”Shake to lock” feature on in the Truphone settings which will keep Truphone active and available to receive calls).
