BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220
The first clamshell phone from RIM, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 is a quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE data connectivity WiFi, an internal QVGA screen, 2 megapixel camera, media player and, of course, messages and personal information management tools BlackBerry devices are famous.

Pearl Flip 8220 does not support GPS (maybe there will be 8,230 in the future that does May), but it has a mapping application integrated and you can talk to an accessory GPS via Bluetooth.
It does not come with support 3G. The lack of 3G in the range Pearl is a little embarrassing - although strictly speaking the BlackBerry Push Email system is effective not need, it is nonetheless a shame that otherwise a fine read as it is limited to GPRS or EDGE data so far of a WiFi connection. The two-megapixel camera is also a bit basic, and if it is just as previous versions of the Pearl you can expect to capture video resolution to be a bit miserable.
The unique selling proposition with a Pearl Flip is the clamshell design, which measures 3.9 x 1.9 x 0.7 inches (about 99 x 48 x 18 mm) and weighs 3.6 ounces (102 grams). To put things in context, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 is about 7 mm larger than the Nokia 6131 in the closed position and about the same width and thickness, while coming in 10 grams lighter. The 8220 is a great device in the closed position - only 8 mm shorter than the standard Pearl 8120 - dump, but the fans know that this form factor tends to mean a larger screen and keyboard, and it also protects sensitive components against damage.
Pearl Flip has a higher screen resolution to 240 x 320 pixels that the 240 x 260 pixels BlackBerry 8220 Pearl Flip found in the “candy bar” Pearl. There is also an external 128 x 160 pixels group which, in press photos has a clock, connection and the new status message count. Modern BlackBerry devices are well known for their clear, bright LCD panels and we hope that the 8220 to be equally good.
RIM said that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 should be available during the autumn, and one of the first carriers to have, it will be T-Mobile USA. No pricing information was made by RIM, but we guess that the SIM-free price May be around € 400 / £ 300 / $ 600 to its launch.
